Through specific practices, directed attention and self study (Svadhyaya) we can improve the quality of our nature. Developing a greater awareness and understanding of the different layers of our being (Koshas), helps us improve our mental, nervous and emotional states, as well as improving our concentration, attention, (self) awareness; and the nature of our being. This helps us to live with deeper meaning and connection; more grace, harmony, joy and peace.
Just as we tone our body and improve mobility, muscle mass, and flexibility through sport or asana (yoga postures), these other qualities of our being may also be developed, or more easily felt, observed and improved on through certain practices, observation, enquiry, self awareness, self study, concentration techniques and directed attention.
More than just poses or aerobics - Yoga offers us a map for navigating the layers of our being; a key to life's terrain, its deep pitfalls and its greatest summits, along with tools to perfect, harmonize, and master our own nature.
Our yoga practice should refine the many aspects of our being and improve on their current states, or assist in revealing what is hidden within so that we may live a more spiritual life.
Yoga is a guide for life and living... a guide to aid progress from our current state of being to greater self perfection and potential.
